Former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is set to play under teammate Hardik Pandya in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. With the change in captaincy receiving a lot of criticism from fans and some pundits, there is a slight possibility that the Team India captain will shift base to Chennai alongside former teammate MS Dhoni.
Rayudu said “I want Rohit Sharma to play for CSK in 2025, if MS retires then Rohit can lead as well”. [News 24 Sports] pic.twitter.com/7ZpaaSUdyF

Former CSK player Ambati Rayudu also commented on the same and wished that his former Indian teammate will make the move in the future.
“This year, Rohit should have continued captaining this year and Hardik, maybe after a year, could have been given that responsibility. Rohit is still captaining India in T20Is. I personally feel that MI rushed into this decision but probably they know best. So, it will be difficult. Gujarat Titans had a different set-up. Captaining MI is not easy because there are so many star players in the team. There is too much pressure and not everyone can handle it,” Rayudu said in an interview with News24.
“Rohit can play for another 5-6 years. I want to see Rohit in CSK going forward. If he has to captain, he can do it anywhere in the world. But it’s up to him. He has played so many years for MI and won them titles. So if he goes there, why not,” Rayudu added.
If this surprising and big move is to take place in the future, the defending champions CSK will be adding one of the biggest assets of the Indian Premier League onto their squad.
Playing under MS Dhoni
With both Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni having 5 IPL titles to their name, it will be the first time that a team will feature a total of 10 IPL titles onto their CV in the team. With Dhoni by his side, Rohit Sharma will be comfortable playing under his former captain and the issue of ego clashes will be set aside quite easily.
Strong Replacement
With CSK opener Devon Conway ruled out of the first half of the upcoming IPL season, Rohit’s move will prove to be a great opportunity for the team to fill in an important role in the starting eleven as well.
Lack Of Experience
With Hardik Pandya taking over the reigns after a successfull stint at Gujarat Titans, he would be feeling that Rohit Sharma’s valuable experience will be missed out on by the 5-time winners.
