Mumbai Indians‘ batsman Suryakumar Yadav made a remarkable comeback against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, smashing a commanding 52 off just 19 balls on Thursday. After being dismissed for a duck in his first match back from injury against the Delhi Capitals on Sunday, the top-ranked T20I batsman was eager to deliver.

Despite the impressive bowling efforts of MI’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah, RCB managed to post a formidable total of 197 runs. MI’s batters, led by openers Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma, dominated from the outset, reaching 100 runs by the end of the 9th over.

SKY To The Rescue

Following the departure of both openers, Suryakumar Yadav effortlessly guided his team to victory with 27 balls remaining, barely breaking a sweat with his rapid innings.

As Suryakumar wrapped up, he lauded Jasprit Bumrah’s second five-wicket haul in the IPL and also mentioned that he avoids facing the pacer in the nets to either save his bat or foot.

“I just try to play to the field and practice these shots and it is just muscle memory and I go out there and enjoy myself. The slice over point is the one that I enjoyed the most,” Suryakumar said.

“It’s been almost 2-3 years since I batted against him (Bumrah) in the nets, because he either breaks my bat or breaks my foot,” he concluded

Expressing his delight with his outstanding performance, the MI batsman mentioned how he remained mentally focused during his rehabilitation hours at Wankhede.
