SRH Fail To Capitalise On Good Start
Opening the innings, SRH batsmen Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head provided a solid start for their team during the powerplay. While Abhishek initially played a supporting role, his partner Travis Head showcased some aggressive strokeplay, scoring 48 runs off 30 balls.
However, the momentum shifted as MI bowlers, led by spinner Piyush Chawla, consistently took wickets, causing SRH’s score to plummet to 96/5 by the 12.1 overs mark.
MI captain Hardik Pandya delivered a standout performance, claiming 3 wickets for 31 runs in his allotted 4 overs against the SunRisers. His bowling display was particularly crucial, given recent scrutiny over his bowling abilities.
Travis Head emerged as the highest run-scorer for SRH, but their innings concluded with a total of 173/8 in 20 overs.
With Mumbai Indians playing at home and aiming to salvage pride, they will seek to put up an impressive performance for their supporters against a formidable SRH side.
SKY Scores 2nd IPL Century
In reply, Mumbai openers knew they didn’t have to have an explosive start to their innings to stay at the required run rate. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan failed to get into double digits after what was a good opening over for them.
While Ishan went for just 9 runs, former MI skipper Rohit Sharma only managed to score 4 runs on the night which extended his poor run for the hosts to 6 games in this tournament now.
It was the duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma who started building the momentum for Mumbai Indians. Their unbeaten 143-run partnership brought MI relief in the middle and gave the fans a lot of relief in the chase.
It was the swashbuckling knocks of the duo that inspired their side to a 7-wicket win on the night as Suryakumar Yadav’s fiery 102* was supported by Tilak’s gritty 37* to give Mumbai Indians their 4th victory of the season.
