SRH Seeking Playoff Spot
SRH needs to secure at least one victory from their two remaining matches to advance to the playoffs. Out of their 13 games, the Orange Army has won six and lost seven, with Pat Cummins leading the team effectively, nearly confirming their place in the top four.
SRH batters have been in exceptional form, impressing cricket enthusiasts with their performances. They notably posted a formidable total of 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier in the tournament, marking the highest team score in IPL history. Additionally, they have achieved two more totals exceeding 250 in the campaign. Travis Head, leading the charge in his comeback season, stands as the highest run-scorer for SRH with 533 runs from 11 matches, boasting an impressive average of 53.30 and an astonishing strike rate of 201.89. His opening partner, Abhishek Sharma, has also been in superb touch, accumulating 401 runs from 11 matches at an average of 36.45 and a strike rate of 205.64. The duo notably assisted the former champions in chasing down a target of 166 runs against Lucknow Super Giants in the previous game within 10 overs.
Contrarily, Gujarat Titans faced elimination after their recent game against Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned due to rain. Their performance throughout the season, with five wins and seven losses, did not merit a playoff spot. In the batting department, Sai Sudharsan has displayed consistency, amassing 527 runs from 12 matches at an average of 47.91 and a strike rate of 141.29. However, skipper Shubman Gill’s form has been inconsistent compared to his stellar performance last season. David Miller’s contribution, with just one fifty from nine matches, did not significantly benefit the Titans’ cause.
SRH vs GT Pitch Report
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has been conducive to high-scoring encounters in IPL 2024. With five games played so far in Hyderabad, the average first innings score is 203. Teams batting first have won three games, while chasing teams have won two. In the last three games at this venue, teams have chosen to bat first, a trend that might persist on Thursday. However, defending a total less than 200 could prove challenging.
