Record Breaking Hyderabad
In the 69th match of the 17th edition of the IPL, SRH hit a total of 14 sixes, bringing their season tally to 160. This surpassed the Faf Du Plessis-led RCB’s total of 157 sixes, also accumulated in the current season.
Other teams on the list of most sixes in a T20 series include Chennai Super Kings (145 in IPL 2018), Surrey (144 in T20 Blast 2023), and Kolkata Knight Riders (143 in IPL 2019).
Additionally, SRH matched another record in the ongoing IPL 2024 by scoring the most 200-plus totals in a single IPL edition, with six such scores. They share this achievement with Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL), Mumbai Indians (IPL 2023), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (IPL 2024).
In the run chase, SRH faced an early setback with Travis Head being dismissed for a duck. However, Abhishek Sharma (66 off 28 balls, including five fours and six sixes), Nitish Kumar Reddy (37 off 25 balls, featuring a four and three sixes), and Heinrich Klaasen (42 off 26 balls, with three fours and two sixes) delivered explosive performances. Their efforts propelled SRH to 215/6 in 19.1 overs, securing victory with five balls to spare.
Currently, SRH is second on the points table with eight wins, five losses, and one no-result, totaling 17 points. Punjab Kings are in ninth place with five wins, nine losses, and 10 points.
