In a high-octane clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 31st match of the season, the action-packed first innings witnessed KKR setting a daunting target of 224 runs for their opponents to chase down.

KKR’s opener Philip Salt got out early having scored 10 runs off 13 balls by Avesh Khan. However, it was Sunil Narine who stole the show with his explosive batting prowess. Narine blazed his way to a scintillating 109 runs off just 56 deliveries, including 9 boundaries and 6 towering sixes. His aggressive innings, at a remarkable strike rate of 194.64, provided KKR with the much-needed impetus.
Supporting Narine’s onslaught was Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who played a crucial role in accelerating the innings with a brisk 30 runs off 18 balls, featuring 3 boundaries and a six. Captain Shreyas Iyer contributed 11 runs off 7 balls before being dismissed LBW to Yuzvendra Chahal.

Andre Russell, known for his explosive batting, lived up to his reputation with a quickfire cameo of 13 runs off 10 deliveries. However, the highlight of the innings was the unbeaten partnership between Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer, who ensured KKR finished strongly. Singh’s aggressive knock of 20 runs off 9 balls, accompanied by Iyer’s composed 8 runs off 6 balls, propelled KKR to a commanding total of 223 for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of their allotted 20 overs.
