CSK vs LSG: Match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) witnessed Lucknow Super Giants travel down to Chennai to face Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Chennai Super Kings at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium on April 23.

Gaikwad Inspires CSK At Chepauk

Put to bat first, CSK opener Ajinkya Rahane got dismissed at just 1 courtesy of a Matt Henry delivery in the very first over. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell give Chennai a decent powerplay score. However, Mitchell eventually departed at 11 runs with the Chennai Super Kings at 49/2 within 6 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja too failed to make it count on the night as he was sent back to the pavilion at just 16 runs. It was the fiery partnership between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube which brought the run rate up for the hosts.

Gaikwad’s brilliant century was well supported by Dube’s 27-ball 66 which consisted of some massive hits which got the crowd roaring in the last 5 overs. Their 104-run stand powered CSK to a competitive total of 210/4 at the end.

Gaikwad’s century came in just 56 deliveries as he continued his prime form with a well-made 108* in the league for the 5-time champions

Gaikwad led by example for his side as his 2nd century in the IPL inspired the team at the right time in their innings. Mohsin Khan, Matt Henry, and Yash Thakur got one scalp each which couldn’t restrict CSK to a lower total than they would have hoped for.

The defending champions would be looking to get their 5th win in the bag in front of their home fans as they continue their title defense this season.
