Former India cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra discussed RR’s potential strategy to dismiss Travis Head in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League 2024. SRH has heavily relied on Head, who is the fourth-highest run scorer of the tournament, amassing 533 runs with an average of 44.41 and an impressive strike rate of 199.62.

The Australian opener is expected to be a major threat to Rajasthan in the upcoming match. To counter him, Chopra suggested that the Sanju Samson-led side will likely use Trent Boult, their new-ball specialist, to exploit Head’s recent vulnerability against left-arm seamers. Head was recently dismissed for consecutive ducks, bowled by Arshdeep Singh and Mitchell Starc.
Aakash Chopra’s Strategy For RR To Take Out Travis Head
“Trent Boult hasn’t troubled him that much, although he could have got out last time. Riyan Parag dropped a catch. So they might try to trap Travis Head in the same way once again. However, he scored a fifty against this team last time. This team cannot progress without Travis Head scoring runs,” said Chopra on his YouTube channel.
In their previous encounter, Boult almost dismissed Head for a golden duck, as Head hit the first ball straight to point. However, Riyan Parag couldn’t hold onto the difficult catch, and Head capitalized on this reprieve by scoring 58 off 44 balls.
Chopra also praised Head’s opening partner, Abhishek Sharma, for his impressive performance in the tournament. The 23-year-old is SRH’s second-highest run-scorer, with 470 runs from 14 innings at an average of 36.15 and a strike rate of 207.04. Highlighting Abhishek’s ability to score runs while chasing, Chopra predicted that the young batter will soon play for India.
“My second player is Abhishek Sharma because he is batting very well. If Travis Head is scoring runs in the first innings, Abhishek Sharma is scoring runs in the second innings. If he keeps batting like this, you never know, he might play for India soon. Times are changing, the Indian selectors have already started focusing on the next generation,” he elaborated.
