Kohli Guides RCB To 241/7
Put to bat first, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis failed to partner Virat Kohli to another explosive opening in the powerplay. While Du Plessis was sent back to the pavilion on just 9 runs, Virat continued to go strong for the visitors.
Will Jacks, who single-handedly won RCB the match recently could only manage 12 runs on the night. It was Rajat Patidar who stitched a strong 76-run partnership which took the side from 43/2 to 119/3 within 10 overs.
Punjab Kings weren’t good in the field, dropping a few catches which could’ve saved them some crucial runs on the night. Virat, who was dropped by Ashutosh Sharma on 0 & 10 respectively, went on to score a blazing 92 as he extended his lead at the top of the orange cap race too.
Vidwath Kaverappa impressed on his debut and took 2 early wickets to dismiss Faf du Plessis and Will Jacks out of the game at the right time. It was his delivery to Virat Kohli that could’ve seen him get out without scoring a single run on the night as well.
It was another well-stitched 92-run partnership between Kohli and Cameron Green (46) which powered RCB to a competitive 241/7 in their 20 overs as they look to continue their run in the tournament.
