Put to bat first, MI openers Rohit and Ishan Kishan chose an aggressive batting style at the Wankhede and started to put runs don’t he board swiftly. Rohit, who was just 23 runs away from the 1000-run mark vs Delhi in the cash-rich league, showcased brilliant power hitting all around the ground.
The duo ended the powerplay at 75/0, which promised a great innings ahead for the 5-time champions. However, Rohit Sharma couldn’t complete his half-century on the day as he got sent back to the pavilion on 49 in just 27 deliveries, hitting 6 boundaries and 3 sixes in the process.
Rohit Sharma’s 1000 runs against Delhi is not the first time that the former MI skipper has achieved this milestone. Rohit has also has 1000 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders, making Delhi his 2nd favourite team to score against now.
Suryakumar’s Disappointing Return
With Mumbai Indians banking all their hopes on incoming batter Suryakumar Yadav at number three after an injury spell, the number one batter in T20Is had a return to forget as he got dismissed on a duck courtesy of Anrich Nortje.
SKY tried to open his account with a typical lofted shot but was dismissed by a brilliant catch by the fielder on the day.
