RCB Post 200+ Total
The toss was a significant point of discussion before the match, and fortunately for RCB, they won it, opting to bat first against an SRH team known for its strength in setting targets.
RCB’s opening pair of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis got off to a solid start, guiding the team to 61/1 during the powerplay. Establishing a strong foundation was crucial to maintaining scoreboard pressure on the SRH batsmen for the second innings.
While du Plessis departed after a quick 12-ball 25, Rajat Patidar stepped up and played aggressively. Patidar’s half-century off just 20 balls boosted RCB’s scoring rate and provided a break for Virat Kohli in the middle overs.
However, Kohli’s innings (51) lost momentum thereafter, and he was dismissed by Jaydev Unadkat.
Cameron Green and impact player Swapnil Singh then took charge, propelling RCB to a competitive total of 206/7 by the end of their 20 overs.
SRH Crumble Under Pressure vs RCB
In reply, it was as if RCB had planned this match accordingly. SRH big hitters Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma failed to fire their side to yet another big score in the powerplay as both batters saw themselves dismissed at a collective total of just 32 with Head departing for just 1 run courtesy of a Will Jacks delivery.
Pat Cummins and Abhishek Sharma’s 31-run knock each eventually turned out to be the top score on the night as Hyderabad got crushed by the scoreboard pressure and saw their batting order decimated on the night.
Swapnil Singh and Karn Sharma took 2 wickets each on the night and helped restrict SRH to just 171/8 in the end. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s 2nd win of the tournament couldn’t lift them in the table but gave them confidence that they can revive their season by winning a couple of more matches on the trot.
