SRH Confirm Playoff Spot
Persistent rainfall characterized the day in Hyderabad, leading to the captains Pat Cummins and Shubhman Gill being unable to conduct the coin toss at the start of the match due to the inclement weather.
Although there was a brief period when the rain eased and the ground staff attempted to dry the pitch with super-soppers, the rainfall continued afterward, dimming the prospects of a cricket match for the spectators.
While the Gujarat Titans had no chance of qualifying for the IPL playoffs now, the SunRisers Hyderabad got their spot in the top 4 with the solitary point they got on the night. With only one spot left in the table, it will likely be a two-horse race which will see the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings battle it out at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 18. The match has now become a knockout tie with RCB needing a convincing win to get that final playoff spot.
The SRH vs GT washout also ruled out the chance of both RCB and CSK qualifying for the playoffs which required hosts SRH to lose both their games in the league.
