Opting to bat first, Punjab openers Prabhsimran Singh and Sam Curran got the hosts to a good start in the powerplay. Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed at a 21-ball 35 while Sam Curran lost his wicket at 20 runs courtesy of a Rashid Khan delivery.
Playing his 2nd match this season, PBKS batter Rilee Roussouw failed to make a mark yet again as he got sent back to the pavilion at just 9 runs in the end. Vice-captain Jitesh Sharma too wasn’t able to impose his play on the night as the GT bowlers looked on top of the batting order in the middle.
GT Spinners Bamboozle PBKS
Punjab saw themselves depending on the dynamic duo of Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma yet again with both batters coming on to the crease one after another.
However, the duo too couldn’t grab hold of the innings as both of them were dismissed at a collective total of just 11 runs courtesy of a star-studded performance by the GT spinners on the night.
Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore led the bowling line-up with 3 wickets while Noor Ahmed got 2 scalps to his name as well. Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma followed up with one wicket each.
Prabhsimran Singh eventually top-scored for the home side as the Punjab Kings could only manage to post a below-par 142 in their 20 overs in the end.
