CSK Manage To Post 162/6 vs PBKS
Opting to bat first, Ruturaj Gaikwad and his team struggled to provide CSK with a strong start, with Ajinkya Rahane falling early, dismissed for just 29 runs by a delivery from Harpreet Brar.
Despite being part of the T20 World Cup 2024 squad, Shivam Dube faced disappointment as he was dismissed without scoring a run in the 9th over. The Punjab Kings bowlers maintained pressure on the home team, resulting in CSK struggling at 107/4 after 15.3 overs.
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad once again anchored the innings, scoring a valuable 62 runs off 47 balls to ensure his team kept adding runs to the scoreboard.
Despite not being selected for the T20 World Cup this year, Gaikwad continued his excellent form in the IPL, delivering a captain’s innings for his team.
Harpreet Brar was the standout bowler, claiming 2 wickets on the night. A 16-run partnership between MS Dhoni and Daryll Mitchell helped CSK reach a competitive total of 162/7.
PBKS Get 4th Win In Chepauk
In reply, Punjab started pretty well with an average target to chase on the night. While opener Prabhsimran Singh got dismissed early on at 19 runs, Jonny Bairstow held his end and scored a well-made 46 runs in 30 deliveries to keep PBKS right on track for the win.
In came Rilee Roussouw and Shashank Singh whose 30-run partnership made sure that the visitors go home with their 4th win of the season which hasn’t been too eventful for them so far. With Roussouw gone for a fiery 43 runs, skipper Sam Curran took control of the proceeding along with Shashank. Sam Curran’s 26*-run cameo steered PBKS to a 7-wicket victory on the night.
Chennai on the other hand failed to go level with Lucknow Super Giants on 12 points to solidify their 4th spot on the table.
