Nicholas Pooran Inspires LSG to 214/6
Put to bat first, LSG opener Devdutt Padikkal didn’t have an eventful innings as he saw himself getting dismissed for a golden duck courtesy of a Nuwan Thusara delivery in the first over itself.
Skipper KL Rahul on the other hand kept batting for his side to keep the scoreboard ticking on the night. Marcus Stoinis who often plays big knocks for the visitors also lost his wicket early on after a 22-ball 28 on the night. It was the 109-run partnership of KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran that steered the Lucknow Super Giants towards a competitive score.
KL Rahul’s 55 was complimented well by Nicholas Pooran’s fiery 75 on the night which left the MI bowlers gasping for air in the latter stages of the innings.
Piyush Chawla once again delivered for the hosts along with Nuwan Thusara as the spinner and pacer got themselves three scalps each on the night. However, it was the Caribbean magic through Pooran’s bat that took LSG’s innings to another gear and helped them register a mammoth total of 214/6 in their 20 overs. Ayush Badoni’s 22*-run cameo also helped in taking LSG to a 200+ total away from home.
