Mumbai Indians secured a narrow 9-run victory against Punjab Kings, largely due to Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional performance with the ball. The tense match witnessed an almost miraculous comeback from PBKS, fueled by Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh’s impressive performances.
Mumbai Accused Of Cheating
However, following the match, a video surfaced on social media alleging Mumbai Indians’ involvement in “DRS Cheating.” The footage captured a Mumbai player signaling for a DRS review before realizing they were being filmed. Despite Punjab Kings’ stand-in captain Sam Curran voicing his concerns to the on-field umpire, no action was taken. The review was initiated following the MI bench’s signal, despite objections from Curran, leading to the on-field umpire signaling a wide delivery.
Former cricketers were also surprised with what was unfolding in front of their eyes.
“Seriously? He (batter) was already outside the off stump. I thought the line moved (as the batter moved). That’s touch and go,” commentator Murali Kartik said.
This incident left fans outraged, raising questions about the umpiring standards in the current IPL season. Additionally, several former cricketers expressed bewilderment at the questionable events witnessed during the match.
