Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has been a household name in Indian cricket for many years. Captain Cool will once again take the pitch for his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. Playing the role of a finisher in recent years, CSK’s wicketkeeper-batter can be seen playing himself higher in the batting order to help his team chase totals in a better manner.

At the age of 42, Dhoni finds himself nearing the end of his playing career. Despite of this he has diligently focused on improving both his fitness and skills to cope with the demands of high-intensity matches.
Dhoni’s former teammate and IPL winner Ambati Rayudu revealed as to why this decision can be implemented this season. Speaking in a press conference, Rayudu said “With Dhoni bhai, you never know. But knowing him and knowing what happened in the last few seasons, I am sure he will promote a youngster there. He may promote himself a number or two up, but not in the top order.”
MS Dhoni IPL Record
Dhoni is on the verge of becoming the second CSK batter, after Suresh Raina, to reach the milestone of 5000 runs in T20s, currently just 43 runs away. Despite retiring from international cricket in August 2020 following the 2019 World Cup, Dhoni continues to play a pivotal role for the Super Kings in the IPL.
Although he may be past his peak, Dhoni remains an integral part of the CSK squad. Notably, under his leadership, CSK clinched their fifth IPL title last year, triumphing over the Titans in an exhilarating final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Recently, fans flocked to Chepauk to witness Dhoni’s training session, and anticipation is high for his appearance in the IPL opener, expected to create an electrifying atmosphere.
