Narine’s 81 Fires KKR To 235/6
Put to bat first, KKR openers went beast mode right from the start and showed why they are at the position they’re in this season. While Phil Salt scored a fiery 14-ball 32, his opening partner and one of the standout performers of the IPL 2024, Sunil Narine went on to score a swashbuckling 81 runs off just 39 deliveries on the night.
Narine top scored on the night as his knock and a power-hitting end from Ramandeep Singh (6-ball25*) saw the visitors post another mammoth total of 235/6 on the scoreboard.
KKR Go Top of the Table
Chasing a huge target of 236, LSG openers knew they had to go from the very first ball and that is exactly what they did. Skipper KL Rahul started to hit from the get-go. His opening partner Arshin Kulkarni however, departed cheaply on just 9 runs within the first two overs.
Going at a decent strike rate in the chase, it was KKR pacer Harshit Rana who took the all-important wicket of KL Rahul who was sent back at 25 runs.
Marcus Stoinis did try to get the momentum back for the hosts but his 21-ball 36 wasn’t enough to take his team to the victory in the end. It was all KKR after that point as wickets at quick intervals saw the visitors bag a 98-run victory and go top of the table on net run rate.
Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana led the bowling lineup with 3 wickets each on the night as KKR restricted LSG to 137.
