With Lucknow Super Giants traveling to Bengaluru to get their 2nd win of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), skipper KL Rahul’s fitness has been the talking point ahead of the encounter.

Lucknow Super Giants closely monitored their regular captain, KL Rahul, ahead of their IPL 2024 match against Bengaluru on Tuesday, April 2. In their previous match against Punjab on Saturday, March 30, Rahul played as an Impact Player, with Nicholas Pooran taking over the captaincy duties to alleviate pressure on the returning Indian star following an injury layoff.

Despite Rahul’s modest contribution of 15 runs, Lucknow secured a victory against Punjab through an all-round team effort. Pooran effectively led the team in Rahul’s absence on the field.

On Monday, Rahul underwent fitness drills during net practice, as reported by the PTI news agency. However, Pooran, speaking to the press on the eve of the crucial match in Bengaluru, did not disclose whether Rahul would resume leadership at his home ground.

“We will see how he is pulling up at nets, and will make a decision based on that,” Pooran said.

During the training session at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Rahul appeared comfortable while fielding but did not take on wicketkeeping duties. Quinton de Kock will likely continue as the wicketkeeper for the Lucknow franchise. Notably, Rahul assumed the wicketkeeping role in their opening match, a 20-run loss to Rajasthan in Jaipur.
