IPL 2024: KKR Spinners Leave DC Batters Stunned; Restrict Them To 153/9

In the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals, Delhi won the toss and chose to bat

The Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first. Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser-McGurk strode confidently to the crease, ready to set a formidable total. Shaw wasted no time, dispatching the first few deliveries to the boundary with precision and power. Fraser-McGurk, on the other end, showcased his own array of shots, complementing Shaw’s aggressive approach.

However, Kolkata’s bowlers weren’t willing to let the Delhi batsmen have it easy. Vaibhav Arora, with his deceptive pace, struck first, sending Shaw back to the pavilion with a well-directed delivery. The wicket brought a brief lull in the Capitals’ scoring, but Abishek Porhel stepped up to the challenge, playing some elegant strokes to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Just when it seemed like Delhi was gaining momentum, Kolkata’s spinners tightened the screws. Chakaravarthy, with his bag of tricks, bamboozled the batsmen with his variations. Rishabh Pant, the skipper, tried to counterattack, but he too fell victim to Chakaravarthy’s guile.

As the innings progressed, Delhi Capitals kept losing wickets at crucial junctures. Despite contributions from the lower order, they couldn’t quite accelerate the scoring as they had hoped. Kolkata’s disciplined bowling attack, led by Arora and Chakaravarthy, kept the Delhi batsmen in check.

In the end, the Delhi Capitals managed to post a total of 153 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. It wasn’t the commanding total they had envisioned, but with their strong bowling lineup, they were determined to defend it tooth and nail. The stage was set for an enthralling chase as the Kolkata Knight Riders prepared to take on the challenge under the floodlights.
