As India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan diligently prepares for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season with the Mumbai Indians, the player has been part of a lot of things apart from cricket. Prior to the commencement of the new campaign, Ishan conveyed a message to the franchise’s fans in a video shared by the Mumbai Indians. In the clip, Ishan, serving as the wicket-keeper batter, addressed the fans as he and his teammates engaged in rigorous training sessions ahead of the 17th season of the T20 league.

Ishan garnered significant attention due to his decision to opt out of national selection and skip domestic cricket commitments, including the Ranji Trophy for his state team Jharkhand. This choice drew criticism from fans and officials of the BCCI.
Last season, the Mumbai Indians advanced to the playoffs, but their journey was halted by a stellar century from Shubman Gill of the Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2 match, leading to their defeat against the Rohit Sharma-led MI.
Under Rohit’s captaincy, the Mumbai Indians have become a dominant force in the IPL, clinching the title five times in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
With a modest purse of 17.75 crore, the Mumbai Indians, five-time IPL champions, approached the mini-auction. Despite their limited budget, the MI management made strategic moves, securing the signings of Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madushanka, Mohammad Nabi, and Nuwan Thushara at reasonable prices. This demonstrated the adeptness of the MI think tank in maximizing their resources effectively.
