Sai Sudharshan’s 84* Helps GT Post 200/3
Put to bat first, GT openers failed to make a mark in the first match of the Sunday doubleheader as both Wriddhiman Saha and skipper Shubman Gill got sent back to the pavilion earlier on in the powerplay with the score at 45/2 at 6.2 overs.
It was a brilliant 86-run partnership between Sai Sudharshan and Shahrukh Khan that propelled the team to a good score in the innings. Shahrukh Khan scored a well-made 58 off just 30 deliveries before being dismissed by a good delivery by Siraj.
Sai Sudharshan however, continued to bat for the hosts and made sure that the last year’s finalists posted a respectable total on the board to defend in the 2nd innings.
Sudharshan’s fiery 84* paired with David Miller’s 26* ultimately got GT to 200/3 in their 20 overs.
Glenn Maxwell’s return to the starting eleven saw the Australian all-rounder get a wicket as well which would’ve filled the Aussie with some much-needed confidence going into the business end of the innings.
A win on the night for the Gujarat Titans will take their points total to 10 points, leveling them with 2nd placed KKR who have 2 games in hand over GT.
