MI vs CSK: The El-Clasico of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) witnessed Chennai Super Kings take on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 14. With both the teams stepping onto the pitch with new faces as their leaders, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni were facing each other without the captaincy role after a long time.

Gaikwad-Dube Run Riot
Put to bat first, Chennai Super Kings didn’t have a bright start to their innings as opener Ajinkya Rahane got sent back to the pavilion on just 5 runs courtesy of a Gerald Coetzee delivery in the 2nd over itself.
However, his opening partner and the new CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad held his end and kept scoring runs to take CSK to a challenging total in the 1st innings.

Rachin Ravindra also failed to impress yet again with 21 runs on the night. Shivam Dube came in to contribute alongside his skipper as the duo aimed at putting the MI bowlers under pressure in the latter stages of the innings.
Gaikwad’s impressive knock of 69 runs was well supported by Dube’s 38-ball 66*. The 90-run partnership by the Chennai duo made sure that the CSK bowlers would have something substantial to defend in the 2nd innings.
MS Dhoni’s 20-run cameo gave the crowd another reason to shout out loud on the night. With a strike rate of 241 in the final over, Dhoni struck 3 powerful sixes on the night to roll back the times yet again.
Hardik Pandya’s MI looked good with the ball but their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah failed to continue his good form in the league as his previous record against CSK hasn’t been that eventful either.
