KKR Bowlers Bamboozle SRH Batting Line-up
Opting to bat first, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma wanted to give their side a strong start for the final time this season. However, it was a bowling fiesta for the Kolkata Knight Riders as their big buy Mitchell Starc took Abhishek Sharma out of the game in the first over courtesy of a spectacular delivery that caught Abhishek off guard.
What stunned the SunRisers even further was the dismissal of Travis Head in the very next over. Vaibhav Arora also delivered early on the night and dismissed Head with a brilliant delivery. What followed was a batting order meltdown as wickets at quick intervals saw SRH struggle at 71/6 at 11.5 overs.
Pat Cummins’ men crumbled under pressure as the KKR bowlers dominated the proceedings early on in the final. It was the skipper himself who topscored with a xx-ball xx on the night. While Andre Russell took 3 wickets on the night, Mitchell Starc, Harshit Rana took 2 wickets each on the night. Other KKR bowlers featuring Varun Chakaravarthy and Vaibhav Arora among others which also picked up one wicket for themselves, eventually restricting the SunRisers to a paltry 113 in their 20 overs. This is the lowest ever total in an IPL final in the history of the tournament.
The IPL 2024 final is looking to go only in one direction at the halfway stage and it will be interesting to see how the SunRisers Hyderabad react to what was a dismal batting display on a night where they needed much more runs ont he board.
