KKR finished at the top of the points table for the first time, with nine wins and three losses out of 14 games. They secured a spot in the final by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in a dominant Qualifier 1 match. Chasing 159, KKR achieved victory with eight wickets in hand and 38 balls remaining at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Following their loss in Qualifier 1, Sunrisers Hyderabad had to take a longer route to the final. They played against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier 2 on Friday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. SRH, led by Pat Cummins, posted a total of 175/9 in their 20 overs and then restricted Rajasthan to 139/7.
KKR vs SRH Pitch Report
Former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen mentioned during Qualifier 2 that he spoke with the curator at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and learned that the final would be played on a red-clay surface, similar to those in Mumbai. This suggests that a high-scoring game can be expected on Sunday. Both teams have strong batting line-ups and have scored heavily throughout the season. While there was no dew in Qualifier 2, teams will need to stay vigilant.
