Rohit Sharma being replaced as Mumbai Indians skipper by Hardik Pandya has got the Mumbai fans furious as the 5-time IPL winner stands to be a household name in the side.

As a sign of protest, fans have been posting their views about the decision and have been using #BoycottSlice on social media platform ‘X’ as Slice is the shirt sponsor for the Mumbai Indians.

Hardik Pandya has been signed by Mumbai in an all cash deal from the Gujarat Titans and has been named as the new captain of the 5-time champions as well.

Hardik Pandya was made captain after he successfully captained his Gujarat Titans side to their maiden IPL title in the franchise’s first season itself. He then went on to finish as runners-up in the next season with Gujarat losing to Chennai Super Kings in a close encounter.

Fans have been fuming over the decision to such an extent that one particular fan left his high paying job at Slice, and wrote about the same on Twitter.

With the IPL Auction 2024 coming up as well, many people wanted Rohit Sharma to switch to another team and suggested to join MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings instead.

With Rohit Sharma still the the Indian cricket team captain, it will be interesting to see whether the 37-year-old continues to take over the responsibility or not.
