SRH Script History, Again!
Opting to bat first, SunRisers Hyderabad commenced their innings with a bold approach, spearheaded by Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. While Sharma contributed a brisk 34 off 22 balls before departing, Head showcased his prowess with a remarkable innings.
Demonstrating his affinity for Indian conditions, Head notched the fourth fastest century in IPL history, achieving the feat in a mere 39 deliveries. His innings, comprising 102 runs off 41 balls, marked the fastest century by an SRH batsman to date. At 165/2 in just 12.3 overs, the stage was set for Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram to capitalize on the solid foundation.
Markram, known for his explosive batting, reached his fifty in just 23 balls, while Klaasen’s aggressive 67 off 31 balls propelled Hyderabad to a colossal total of 287/3. This impressive performance surpassed their record for the highest total in IPL history, leaving the hosts, Royal Challengers Bangalore, with a daunting task in their pursuit.
288 Too Much For RCB
Attempting a record chase at home, RCB openers Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis knew that they had to explode from the get-go. Both batters did exactly that as they scored RCB’s joint-highest powerplay score on the night (79/0).

However, as the crowd raised their hopes, in came Mayank Markande who took the all-important wicket of Virat Kohli who had to depart with a 20-ball 42. Faf du Plessis continued the pursuit but his 28-ball 62 wasn’t enough to take the home side over the line.
Dinesh Karthik’s 35-ball 83 saved RCB from humiliation in the end but couldn’t turn the tide in their favour.
Karthik’s knock eventually turned out to be the highest score by an RCB batter on the night as they fell to another defeat in the tournament and remained rock bottom on the table. Whatever the result, RCB vs SRH turned out to be one of the best batting displays by any two teams in the tournament’s history.
