DC Openers Power Team To 221/8
Put to bat first, DC openers Jake Frazer McGurk and Prithvi Abishek Porel made full use of the batting-friendly pitch on the night and powered Delhi to a strong total in the powerplay.
While Frazer McGurk scored a sensational 20-bal fifty on the night, he was dismissed in the 5th over courtesy of a Ravichandran Ashwin delivery. His opening partner Abishek Porel however, continued to produce the goods for the hosts and scored a swashbuckling 65 runs for DC.
With the score at 144/4 at 12.4 overs, it was skipper Rishabh Pant who saw his wicket taken soon after as well after Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed the wicketkeeper-batter on 15 runs. The wicket saw Chahal become the first Indian to reach 350 T20 wickets as well.
It was Tristan Stubbs and Gulbadin Naib who tried to maintain the run rate for another 200+ total in the 1st innings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Ravichandran Ashwin led the RR bowling line-up as he finished his spell with impressive figures of 3/24 in his 4 overs.
Tristan Stubbs’ fiery 41-run cameo took Delhi to 221/8 in the end as DC batters maintained the habit of registering 200+ totals on the board for opponent teams
