PBKS Restrict Chennai To 162/7
Put to bat first, Ruturaj Gaikwad and his side failed to give CSK a strong start as Ajinkya Rahane continued his dismal form, getting dismissed at just 29 runs courtesy of a Harpreet Brar delivery.
Having been selected for the T20 World Cup 2024, Shivam Dube would have expected to play more freely tonight. However, the all-rounder saw himself getting out on a duck in the 9th over. Punjab Kings bowlers applied continuous pressure on the hosts which saw them struggle at 107/4 at 15.3 overs.
Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad stood his end yet again for the Chennai Super Kings as his 47-ball 62 made sure CSK kept putting runs on the scoreboard.
Despite not being shortlisted for the quadrennial tournament this year, Gaikwad didn’t let that stop his good form in the cash-rich league and continued to produce the goods for his side in what was a captain’s knock by the 27-year-old.
Harpreet Brar led the bowling lineup with 2 wickets to his name on the night. It was MS Dhoni and Daryll Mitchell whose 16-run partnership took the Chennai Super Kings to a respectable 162/7 on the night.
