Put to bat first, openers Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad were dismissed at a collective total of just 38 runs.
Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube carried on CSK’s innings and steadied the momentum for the team. Shivam Dube showcased some fine power-hitting in the middle, hitting at a strike rate close to 200.
Rahane too supported Dube’s knock with a gritty 35 on the night. However, Dube (45) missed out on his half-century as he was sent back to the pavilion courtesy of a Pat Cummins delivery in the 14th over.

Ravindra Jadeja came in to bat with Chennai Super Kings struggling at 13.4 overs. With Rahane gone on 35 in the 15th over, CSK sought some inspiration to get them a healthy total on the scoreboard.
Jadeja and Mitchell tried their best to fire CSK to a strong total but had to be content with 165/5 in their 20 overs in the end.
MS Dhoni’s appearance in the end also gave the fans another glance of Captain Cool in the 1st innings.
