New Delhi: Punjab Kings’ (PKBS) captain Shikhar Dhawan smashed brilliant 86* runs to lead his side for the second consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday. During his inning he hammered 9 fours and three sixes en route the knock as the PBKS reached a mammoth score of 197/4 in 20 overs.
Dhawan performance against RR
With his half-century at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Dhawan added another feather to his cap. The southpaw entered the elite list of batters who have scored the most numbers of fifties in IPL history. Before Dhawan, Australian opener and current Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner and Indian batting ace Virat Kohli had reached the mark thus far.
Dhawan scores third highest fifty in IPL
Shikhar Dhawan is the third batter who entered in this list after he registered back-to-back half-century in 16th edition of cash-rich league. Dhawan equaled the record with Virat Kohli (50) fifties. David Warner is way ahead of both of them with (60) fifties.
Dhawan’s knock highlight
Dhawan had made a slow start to his knock against the Rajasthan Royals, scoring only 14 off 13 balls in the powerplay as Prabhsimran Singh did a majority of the hitting. The youngster reached his half-century in the very next over of the innings, as Dhawan continued to bid time on the crease. Following the dismissal of Prabhsimran and Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s injury (he was hit by a shot from Dhawan), the PBKS captain shifted gears.
