New Delhi: What an absolute freaking final over it was at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 9. Rinku Singh smashed five sixes in final over off Yash Dayal as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) outplayed host Gujarat Titans by 3 wickets.

Rinku Singh’s firework
Rinku returned unbeaten on 48 off 21 balls, which featured six maximums. His effort also overpowered Rashid Khan’s hattrick, which the Gujarat stand-in skipper had claimed earlier in the innings.

Five sixes in last over!
Three sixes in a row and the game was completely in KKR’s control. Yash Dayal bowled yet another full toss and this time wide outside off. Rinku Singh dispatched it over deep cover-point for the third six of the over.
Rinku Singh had smacked five sixes in the last 5 balls and took Kolkata beyond the finish line.
KKR’s batting recap
Earlier, Venkatesh Iyer (Impact Substitute) and Nitish Rana helped KKR recover from early blows in the chase. The pair added 100 runs for the third wicket before Alzarri Joseph removed Rana for 45(29). Joseph then removed Iyer for 83(40). KKR had lost both openers cheaply before the duo joined the chase.
GT batting vs KKR
After decided to bat first, Gujarat Titans’ opener Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha got the host off to a decent start. The pair stitched 33 runs for the first wicket, before Sunil Narine packed Saha for a run-a-ball 17. Sai Sudharsan then added 77 runs for the second wicket with Gill before Narine provided KKR with second breakthrough. He removed Gill for 39(31).
Rashid Khan’s hat-trick
Gujarat Titans skipper Rashid Khan picked up first hat-trick of the season. Andre Russell had gone for just 1 and KKR gone five down. Gujarat slowly regained control. The umpire gave it not-out but GT review and DRS says there was an edge.
After that Khan removed KKR’s spinner Sunil Narine. Narine departed for a first ball duck! Rashid Khan got two in two.
On the hat-trick ball Shardul Thakur faced Rashid Khan and it was out! PLUMB! LBW Rashid Khan had the HAT-TRICK! Rashid Khan became the first player who took hat-trick in IPL 2023.
