New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) achieved another milestone as he completed his 5,000 Indian Premier League (IPL) runs on Monday, April 3 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Dhoni’s innings

Dhoni lighted up Chepauk Stadium with his two gigantic six to reached this milestone. MS Dhoni-intoxicated Chepauk crowd, as he smoked 2 big sixes into the stands. The first was fast and furious and Dhoni went for the big slash and it flew over third man for a six. In the dug out, his team-mates jumped for joy.

The crowd were never sitting on their seats, anyway. The next shot was the real crowd-screamer. It was a pacy bouncer but boy did Dhoni wallop it over midwicket into the stands.

Dhoni’s 5k runs feat

Super Kings’ captain Dhoni became the fifth Indian player, after Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina, to complete 5,000 runs in the T20 tournament.

RCB former captain Kohli (6706 runs in 224 IPL matches) is currently the highest run-getter in IPL history, followed by Dhawan (6086 in 199 IPL matches), Rohit (5764 runs in 221 IPL matches), David Warner (5668 in 155 IPL matches), Raina (5528 runs in 205 IPL matches), and AB de Villiers (5162 runs in 184 IPL matches).
