New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted the formidable target of 217 against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). That last over of the first inning at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai was a bit of festival for the CSK’s fans as they witnessed MS Dhoni’s last over supremacy.
Conway-Gaikwad Partnership
100 plus partnership between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave CSK a great start. Gaikwad registered back-to-back fifty in the 16th edition of the IPL 2023. His partner Conway remained just 3 three runs short to complete half-century. But the carnage done by them created the record as CSK recorded their highest power play score.

MS Dhoni’s innings
MS Dhoni-intoxicated Chepauk crowd, as he smoked 2 big sixes into the stands. The first was fast and furious and Dhoni went for the big slash and it flew over third man for a six. In the dug out, his team-mates jumped for joy. The crowd were never sitting on their seats, anyway. The next shot was the real crowd-screamer. It was a pacy bouncer but boy did Dhoni wallop it over midwicket into the stands.

Devon Conway thought
“It was a great start tonight, the way Rutu played- that first six was pretty special. Took the pressure off me. He is sneakily strong, holds his shape really well and uses his hands well,” He said.
“The slower ball into the wicket might be a good option. Pretty difficult to hit due to the unpredictability of speeds. With the spinners, some skid on so if we hit the right lengths batting can be difficult,” Conway added.
“Very special feeling when I got here earlier. The crowd was pretty loud, really great atmosphere and watching MS go out there for the last over was pretty special. The message has been to just go out there and enjoy ourselves,” Conway signed off.
