Former Indian left-handed batsman Vinod Kambli is not only going through physical difficulties but his financial situation has also become dire. He has been in the headlines since he was seen holding his friend Sachin Tendulkar’s hand at an event held for late coach Ramakant Achrekar. Meanwhile, when his health deteriorated, he was admitted to a private hospital and was discharged on January 1st. Another piece of news coming in isn’t good for him either. Actually, the person repairing his iPhone hasn’t returned it because he couldn’t pay the repair charge of 15,000 rupees.
There’s also news about his house. According to reports, he hasn’t paid a maintenance account of 28 lakh rupees, and for this reason, he might lose his house. Kambli receives a monthly pension of 30,000 rupees from BCCI and has received 5 lakh rupees in assistance from a political party. However, Kambli’s wife Andrea Hewitt said that their housing society is currently demanding 18 lakh rupees in pending maintenance fees, and they might lose their home.
Kambli was hospitalized due to blood clots in his brain and infection. He faced difficulties in getting medical assistance, but several individuals helped him, while many former cricketers also extended their support. After about two weeks of treatment, Kambli was discharged from a private hospital in Bhiwandi, Thane district, on Wednesday afternoon. He left the hospital around 4 PM.
Recently, in a video, Kambli appealed to people to stay away from alcohol and drugs while speaking to the media. He said that bad habits can destroy someone’s life. The former batsman said he would soon return to the field. Dr. Vivek Trivedi, who treated him, said, “Kambli is now completely fit, although he will need to take some precautions.” Before leaving the hospital, the former cricketer was seen wearing Team India jersey and playing cricket.
