New Delhi: International kabaddi player Manpreet Mannu Masan died Thursday after being injured during a kabaddi match in his village in Amritsar. He is survived by his younger brother Prabhjot Singh, his wife and one child. His family sources said Mannu had left to compete in a tournament in Tohiye Karan village in Kabaddi, Amritsar.
Mannu dies while playing match
During the match, Mannu, who was playing in the stopper position, suffered a serious head injury. His relatives said he died shortly after from his injuries. His death casts a dark shadow over the world of Kabaddi, leaving his fans and family grieving. My friends have a hard time accepting the sudden death of someone they played with a while ago. Manu has been in the spotlight recently with his success in tournaments in New Zealand.

A resident of Masan village, Mannu belonged to the Dera Baba Nanak constituency of Gurdaspur district. Village chief Bikramjit Singh said Mannu was a talented kabaddi player in the village. His death is a great loss for the players and the village. The village chief said Mannu’s father, Mohan Singh, passed away last month.
Mannu’s last international match
The young player recently returned from New Zealand after playing a tournament there. In a similar in-game death, another kabaddi died while playing in a college tournament in Mar, Mumbai in February. Kirthiraj Malan, a first-year B.Com student from Santosh Nagar, Mumbai, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
