Seam bowler Hayley Jensen is out for the ODI series against Sri Lanka that follows in New Zealand after she rolled back the years versus warm-up side during the run out of Hallyburton Johnstone Shield final in New Zealand. Hence Fran Jonas has been named as her replacement at the left-arm spin. Head coach Ben Sawyer announced on Monday that Jonas is good to get going with the change, with an emphasis on the utility element. It is a blow for New Zealand but introduction of the spin of Jonas comes in right time of series for them.

From the New Zealand board of selectors, seamer Hayley Jensen who’s been dropped to take part in an international series against Sri Lanka after 2 years due to injury sustained in at Hallyburton Johnstone Shield final — ODI. Head coach Ben Sawyer said “Jensen will get reassessed for the T20I series. She may well be cleared in time but will depend on the physios how fresh she is. Fran Jonas comes in for her and Bella James (who is also injured) has been replaced by Lauren Down.

New Zealand Missing Key Players As They Look To End Losing Streak Against Sri Lanka
New Zealand are without the big names of Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr for ODI series against Sri Lanka. Devine has taken leave to “look after herself”, Kerr, Mumbai Indians woman in the WPL thinks. Lea Tahuhu, Rosemary Mair and Molly Penfold have also been ruled out due to injuries. Suzie Bates will captain the side in Devine absence. The series will get underway in Napier on March 4, before continuing over the next two action-packed days in Nelson March 7th and 9th. The Kiwis are desperate to get away from their three-game losing skid, Sri Lanka would want the momentum swing in their favour.
