The ICC has posted a video on Instagram about a blockbuster catch that was taken during the U-19 India vs West Indies by India’s Sanika Chalke. In the video, Chalke was seen giving an 8/10 rating to her catch at the slip. The catch came during the last ball of the third over which was bowled by Right-arm pacer VJ Joshitha. She sent the Caribbean batter, Naojanni Cumberbatch back to the Pavillion.

In a dramatic over, Joshitha picked up two crucial wickets in quick succession. First, she dismissed Samara Ramnath, who was trapped leg before wicket for 3 runs off 9 balls followed by a wicket of Naijanni Cumberbatch, who was caught by Sanika Chalke without scoring on her very first delivery. Ramnath’s dismissals came at the 3.5 and 3.6 over mark, making it a double-strike over for Joshitha who demonstrated excellent control and accuracy in her bowling.

Joshitha won the Player of the Match award for her figures of 2-0-5-2. Left-arm spinner Aayushi Shukla, who was the top wicket-taker in the Asia Cup, picked up two wickets at an economy rate of 1.50. Parunika Sisodia, who took nine wickets in the Asia Cup, finished with figures of 2.2-0-7-3. Shabnam Shakil, who was a part of the 2023 World Cup-winning U19 squad, could not make a breakthrough.
