Team India’s women’s Kabaddi was able to hold off their opponent Chinese Taipei and win their second Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title with the score of 35-28 during the finals which was on Monday, November 24, and held in Dhaka. During the championship, India had put up a great performance as they were able to win all the matches during group stages and subsequently, they had reached semi-finals against Iran.
Dominant India overpower Iran
India put-up a great performance in their knockout matches by defeating Iran 33-21 in their semi-finals match to reach the finals, and Chinese Taipei also passed through the group without defeat and beat Bangladesh 25-18 in the semifinal matches. In the final, India could hold their composure and ended up winning their second world cup title.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also celebrated the promising victory of the team and said that their win will lead to inspiration of the future generations to pursue the sport.

Puneri Paltan Coach Ajay Thakur lauds India’s success
Ajay Thakur, who is the former India captain, and Head Coach of Puneri Paltan in the Pro Kabaddi League also complimented the team and acclaimed the growth of kabaddi among women in the world.
“It is a very proud moment for India as the women’s team retained the World Cup trophy in Dhaka. Their dominant run to the final and then the trophy shows how much women’s kabaddi has progressed in the last few years. It is also a testament to the global appeal of the sport, with Bangladesh hosting the World Cup, and I hope that this momentum continues in the years to come,” Thakur was quoted as saying by Pro Kabaddi.com.
