After being thrashed by the Kangaroos in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 edition, the BCCI Made it mandatory for the Indian national team players to appear in the domestic cricket format to take part in the international matches for India. But it seems like our national heroes have fallen prey of the domestic cricket equations.
Rohit Sharma, returning to Mumbai after nearly a decade, struggled for runs in his match following a disappointing series against Australia. He managed just 3 runs off 18 balls, facing difficulties against the Jammu & Kashmir pace duo of Auqib Nabi and Umar Nazir. His innings ended when Nazir induced a leading edge, and Rohit was caught at mid-off.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, with an impressive domestic record, was unable to replicate that form for Mumbai, scoring 4 off 8 balls. He began well with a boundary off Nabi but was dismissed lbw to an in-seaming delivery from the same bowler.
Shubman Gill, representing Punjab against Karnataka in Bengaluru, was caught behind for 4 off 8 balls after driving Abhilash Shetty for a boundary. Punjab collapsed for just 55 runs in their first innings.
Rishabh Pant, playing for Delhi in Rajkot in his first First-Class appearance since the 2017-2018 season, was dismissed cheaply for 1 off 10 balls by Dharmendrasinh Jadeja.
Virat Kohli, facing Railways, was bowled for 6 off 15 balls by Himanshu Sangwan. He didn’t bat again as Delhi triumphed by an innings and 19 runs.

KL Rahul, marking his Ranji return, scored 26 off 37 balls in his first innings and 43 off 67 balls in the second, while Ravindra Jadeja starred with both bat and ball, taking 12 wickets in a dominant win over Delhi including a 7 wicket hall.
