Young Indian sensation Abhishek Sharma etched his name in cricket history with a breathtaking innings of 135 runs off just 54 balls in the fifth T20I against England at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium. The packed Wankhede crowd, including notable personalities like Mukesh Ambani, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla, owner of Mumbai Indians Akash Ambani, former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Sunak’s father-in-law, and Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, Rajasthan Royals owner Manoj Badale, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Aamir Khan’s sons Junaid Khan and Azad Khan witnessed a masterclass in T20 batting.

The explosive left-hander’s magnificent knock helped India set a mammoth target of 248 for the visitors. Sharma, who had already impressed with a solid 73 in the first T20I at Eden Gardens, started aggressively, racing to 58 runs within the powerplay overs.
The innings, studded with powerful hits and innovative strokeplay, came to an end when Sharma attempted an inside-out shot off Adil Rashid, only to be caught by Jofra Archer at deep cover. As he walked back to the pavilion, the entire stadium rose to give him a standing ovation, acknowledging what could be considered the finest T20I knock of his career.

With India already leading the series 3-1 after their victory in Pune, Sharma’s spectacular innings has put them in a commanding position to seal the series 4-1. This knock will be remembered as one of the most explosive innings played at the historic Wankhede Stadium.
