Young Indian sensation Abhishek Sharma wrote his name into the record books with a breathtaking innings of 135 runs off just 54 balls in the fifth T20I against England at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. His explosive knock, which included a record-breaking 13 sixes – the most by an Indian in T20I cricket – helped India post an imposing total of 248.

Building on his impressive 73-run innings in the series opener at Eden Gardens, Sharma showcased his full repertoire of shots, particularly excelling with his aerial stroke play. The left-hander’s innings finally came to an end when he attempted an inside-out shot off Adil Rashid, only to be caught by Jofra Archer at deep cover.
The Wankhede crowd rose to their feet as Sharma walked back to the pavilion, acknowledging what could be considered one of the finest T20I innings by an Indian batsman. His knock was particularly special as it came in a series-defining match, with India already leading the five-match series 3-1 following their victory in Pune.
Sharma’s innings, which came at a strike rate of 250, has further cemented his place as one of India’s most exciting young prospects in T20 cricket. His record-breaking performance surpassed the previous Indian record of 10 sixes in a T20I innings, jointly held by Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma.
