The India Under-19 women’s cricket team emerged victorious in the U19 Women’s T20 Asia Cup final, defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs at Kuala Lumpur in it’s inaugural edition. After Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field, India posted a competitive total of 117/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
A Brave Innings
The innings was anchored by a magnificent half-century from Gongadi Trisha, who scored 52 runs off 47 deliveries. Her composed knock proved crucial in setting up a defendable total on a challenging pitch. For Bangladesh, Farjana Easmin was the standout bowler, displaying exceptional control to claim four wickets while conceding just 31 runs in her four-over spell.
In response, Bangladesh’s batting lineup struggled to build momentum against India’s disciplined bowling attack. The pressure of the final seemed to affect their rhythm as they were eventually bowled out for 76 in 18.3 overs, managing a run rate of just 4.10 compared to India’s 5.85.
India’s bowlers executed their plans perfectly, maintaining tight lines and creating constant pressure that resulted in regular wickets. The 41-run victory margin reflects the comprehensive nature of India’s performance in all departments of the game.
