India tour of Australia 2025: With the India vs West Indies Test series wrapping up on October 10 in Delhi, attention quickly turns to India’s upcoming white-ball tour of Australia, starting October 19. The squads for both the ODI and T20I series have already been announced, and preparations are in full swing.
What’s more exciting for fans is the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, both of whom haven’t played international cricket in nearly seven months. Their presence adds weight to the tour, which also marks a fresh beginning for Shubman Gill – set to lead India in ODIs for the first time.
When Will Team India Leave for Australia?
According to a report from Sports Tak, the Indian ODI squad will fly to Australia on October 15. Here’s how the travel plan looks:
- Players involved in the Delhi Test will fly out directly from Delhi.
- The rest of the squad, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will depart from Mumbai.
Both players have been training in Mumbai ahead of the tour and will rejoin the squad officially during travel.

Quick Turnaround, Limited Prep Time
Once they arrive in Australia, the Indian team will have just two days of practice before the first ODI kicks off. Given the tight schedule, the team will have to adjust quickly to conditions and get into rhythm – especially since the Aussies will be well-rested and playing at home.
Despite the short window, the squad looks motivated and fresh. With Gill leading the ODI side and veterans like Rohit and Kohli returning, India will look to strike the right balance of youth and experience.
