India’s victory in the T20 World Cup final, ending a 13-year wait for an ICC trophy, saw peak viewership of 5.3 crore on Disney Hotstar’s OTT platform. However, this figure fell short of last year’s ODI final peak audience in November. The India-South Africa ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup final on Saturday achieved a peak viewership of nearly 5.3 crore on Disney Hotstar.
In comparison, the final match between India and Australia in the 50-overs format on November 20, 2023, reached a peak viewership of 5.9 crore, despite India losing. This 5.9 crore peak still holds the record for live streaming of any cricket match, according to industry experts.
The knockout match between India and Australia in the T20 Cricket World Cup on June 24 had a peak concurrency of 3.9 crore.

Disney Star also broadcasted Saturday’s final live on the Star Sports network, but viewership numbers from the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) will be released next week.
Karan Taurani, SVP of Elara Capital, noted that while the final match on Saturday may not have reached the peak of last year’s numbers, it maintained a steady viewership of 4 to 4.5 crore due to the thrilling finish.
Additionally, the post-match ceremony sustained viewership between 2.5 to 3 crore, which Taurani found noteworthy.
