India Drops Major Hint Of Change In Indian Squad Ahead Of Champions Trophy 2025, See Full Report

He is yet to make his debut in ODI format for India but has been featured in 23 list A games for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket. His last appearance was in Vijay Hazare trophy

Indian right arm spinner Varun Chakravarty has joined the India ODI squad in Nagpur for a short camp ahead of the 3ODI matches against England which will be starting on February 6. Team India arrived at Nagpur before the series for a short camp where Varun Chakravarty joined them. He enjoyed a lot of success in the 5 match T20 series against the same opponent and his addition in the Indian camp can bring out a lot of fortune. There is no official word on him joining the camp in Nagpur but it seems uncertain if he will be featured in the three match ODI series.

Varun Chakravarty has picked up 14 wickets in the five T-20 internationals and completely dominated the opposition. Former Indian spinner Para Ashwin who announced his retirement amidst the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has also advocated for Varun’s addition in the Champions Trophy squad.

“We are all talking about whether he should have been there (Champions Trophy squad), I am thinking there is a chance he might be there. I have a feeling he might make it. There is a chance because all teams have named only a provisional squad. So, he might get picked,” R Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

“But, if you look at the existing squad, if a seamer goes out and Varun comes in, it will be an added spinner (five). I don’t know who they would want to drop (if they think about getting Varun in). We will wait and see,” he added.

He is yet to make his debut in ODI format for India but has been featured in 23 list A games for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket. His last appearance was in Vijay Hazare trophy this year where he got a fifer against Rajasthan in the quarter-final clash.
