Lionel Messi tour of India: Football fans in India have a reason to rejoice – Lionel Messi is coming back. The global icon and World Cup-winning captain confirmed on Thursday that he will be part of the much-anticipated GOAT Tour of India 2025, a star-studded football exhibition set to bring some of the biggest names in the sport to Indian soil.
Returns back after 14 years
Messi, who last played in India 14 years ago in a friendly against Venezuela in Kolkata, called the upcoming tour an “honour” and said he was looking forward to reconnecting with Indian fans.
“It is such an honour for me to make this trip. India is a very special country, and I have good memories from my time there 14 years ago – the fans were fantastic.”
Messi expressed his gratitude
The GOAT Tour, designed to celebrate the legacy of modern football greats, will feature a series of exhibition matches, fan interactions, and charity events across multiple Indian cities. Messi’s confirmation has added massive buzz, not only for the matches themselves but for what this visit represents – a rare chance for Indian fans to witness the Argentine legend live once again.
“India is a passionate football nation, and I look forward to meeting a new generation of fans while sharing the love I have for this beautiful game,” Messi said in an official statement.
His last visit, back in 2011, drew packed crowds and remains a highlight in Indian football history. For many fans, that match in Kolkata was their first and only chance to see Messi live. Now, a new generation of supporters will get that same opportunity and perhaps even more, with interactive fan zones and potential training sessions reportedly in the works.
With Messi officially on board, the GOAT Tour of India 2025 is shaping up to be more than just an exhibition – it’s a celebration of football’s power to unite, inspire, and create unforgettable memories.
