The incident occurred in the third leg of the ICC Women’s Championship Series against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday. The first incident was notable in the 34th over of India’s innings when Kaur expressed frustration after being found caught by slip-off spinner Nahida Akhter and sent off for hitting a wicket with his bat. Kaul was fined 50% of the match fee for a level 2 offense and received three deductions in her disciplinary history.

Harmanpreet Kaur breaches ICC code of conduct
She was found guilty of violating Article 2.8 of the Code of Conduct for ICC Athletes and Athlete Support Staff regarding “testimony dissenting against a referee’s decision”. Kaur was also fined 25% of the match fee for a Level 1 misdemeanor related to “public criticism of events at an international match” for openly criticizing a match referee during her awards ceremony.
Kaur admits her offence
The Indian captain admitted the offense and agreed to the sanctions proposed by Akhtar Ahmed of the Emirates ICC International Match Refereeing Committee. As a result, no formal hearing was required and penalties were implemented in a timely manner.
Generally, a Level 2 offense carries a penalty of 50-100% of the player’s game fee and 3 or 4 deductions, while a Level 1 breach carries the lowest penalty by formal citation and a maximum of 50% of the player’s game fee and 1 or 2 deductions.
For Kaul, a cumulative demirts four points translated into two suspensions, resulting in her being suspended for one Test match, two ODIs, or two T20Is, whichever comes first for the team.
