With the Women’s ODI World Cup just under two weeks away, Rodrigues’ absence is a significant setback both for the team and the player herself. Missing out on these crucial matches means Rodrigues will lose valuable match practice ahead of the biggest tournament in women’s cricket. In her last outing at the New PCA Stadium in Chandigarh, she managed 18 runs as India fell short against Australia.
Tejal Hasabnis, though relatively new to international cricket, brings promise to the squad. In her six ODIs so far, she has accumulated 140 runs, including a memorable half-century against Ireland earlier this year. The rest of the Indian squad remains unchanged, with Prema Rawat and Priya Mishra named as standby players for the series.
Australia currently lead the three-match ODI series 1-0, with the second game scheduled to take place today at the same venue in Chandigarh.
