New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev has kept his word, especially while criticizing the Indian team’s poor performance at the ICC event. Kapil’s comments criticizing the team went viral after the Indian team’s defeat in the second ODI against the West Indies.
Ravindra Jadeja replies back to Kapil Dev
The 1983 World Cup-winning India captain said the money they got from the Indian Premier League (IPL) made players feel arrogant. But Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja dismissed such accusations, saying the Indian team had no arrogance.
“I don’t know when he said that. I don’t look up stuff like this on social media. You know, everyone has their own opinion. Ex-players have a right to say it. But I don’t think there is arrogance in this team,” Jadeja told reporters ahead of his third and final ODI with the West Indies.
“Too much money sometimes breeds arrogance. These cricketers feel like they know it all,” Kapil Dev said in an interview with the Week.

Team India continuously fail to perform in ICC event
The Indian team was heavily criticized for losing to the West Indies in the second ODI as both players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma rested and new combinations were tested. With just two months to go until the ODI World Championships, many felt there was no room for such an experiment.
Kapil’s comments in the interview put more pressure on the Indian players. But Jadeja said the players just want to perform well for the team and have no personal goals.
“Everyone enjoys cricket, everyone is working hard. Nobody took anything for granted. Player are giving their 100 percent,” Jadeja said.
“Those comments usually come out when the Indian team loses a game. It’s a bunch of good guys, a good group,” he added.
“We represent India and that is our main goal, we have no personal agenda,” he explained.
India will look to make up for it by playing the West Indies in the final third ODI on Tuesday
